Since joining the Dong-A Ilbo in 1924, Pal-Yang Park had worked in most of the Korean language newspapers for 12 years during the Japanese colonial period. He moved various newspapers because of publishing company"s financial problems and his critical inclination toward unfair reality. Nevertheless, he conducted critical journalistic activities against the colonial realities as a reporter or a editor. He moved to Manchuria and worked in the Man-seon Ilbo which was under the control of the Manchurian government in 1937. After the liberation, he went to North Korea and worked in the Rodong Sinmun. The names of three newspapers, including Dong-A Ilbo, Man-seon Ilbo, and Rodong Sinmun, revealed how turbulent his life had been. Due to his activities in both Man-seon Ilbo and Rodong Sinmun, he was under a yoke of pro-Japanese and defection to North Korea. He lived a turbulent life, such as leftist and rightist, anti-Japanese and pro-Japanese, South and North Korea, purge and reinstatement, in colonial Korea and divided Korea. The move to Manchuria and North Korea was a escape from a difficult reality and journey to seek new hope. However, he experienced frustration while pursuing his ideals in the reality of colonization and division of Korea.
