본 연구의 목적은 아동학대 뉴스에 대한 비판적 담론분석을 통해 사회적 소외계층이자 소수자인 어린이의 열악한 삶의 환경과 폭력 현상들을 비판하고 대응책을 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 페어클러프(Fairclough)의 비판적 담론분석방법(Critical Discourse Analysis)을 적용해 최근 이슈가 되었던 아동학대 사망 사건 가운데 하나인 ‘원영이 사건’을 중심으로 국내 네 개 언론사의 기사를 갖고 담론형성 방식과 사회적 실천의 함의들을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 각 언론사별로 종합하여 추출된 주요담론으로는 가해자들에 대한 비난 및 혐오담론, 그리고 아동학대를 야기하는 가정폭력담론이 나타났으며 아동인권 담론과 친권 및 양육권 담론 및 부모교육담론과 아동학대정책담론이 집중적으로 나타났다. 담론의 실천적 함의로는 <경향신문>, <동아일보>, <조선일보>, <한겨레> 모두 부모교육과 친권문제로 비롯된 양육권 문제의 해결방안에 대한 실천적 함의를 발견했다. 그러나 아동학대라는 사안의 중대성에 비해 이러한 담론의 확장에도 불구하고 사회 실천의 장이 쉽게 열리지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 현재 아동학대 담론이 거대담론으로 확대되는 추세에 비해 실효성 있는 대응 작업이 수반되지 않고 있기 때문이다. 본 연구의 의의는 우리 사회 언론이 아동학대담론을 형성하고 사회적 실천 방안들을 도출하는 입장들을 페어클러프의 비판적 담론분석 차원에서 탐구하고 사회적 문제의 해결을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 있다.
　
The objective of this study is to criticize the inferior life environment and violent phenomenon of children, the social alienated class & minority through critical discourse analysis of news on child abuse as well as to search countermeasure. To this end, Critical Discourse Analysis of Fairclough was applied to look into the mode of forming discourse and implications of social practice with the articles of 4 domestic press companies mainly about the case of Wonyoung, one of the cases of abusing and murdering children, the recent issues. According to analysis, the main discourse extracted by generalizing for each press company is criticism & abomination discourse on offenders and domestic violence discourse causing child abuse. The intensive discourses are children’s human right discourse, parental authority & child custody discourse, parents education discourse & child abuse policy discourse. As practical implication of discourse, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Dong-A Ilbo, Chosun Ilbo, Hankyoreh found practical implication about the solution of problem of child custody including parents education and parental authority issues. Although such discourse is expanded, however, it is found that the forum of social practice is not easily opened in comparison with the significance of child abuse issue. This is because while child abuse discourse currently tends to expand to gigantic discourse, effective countermeasure is not taken. The meaning of this study is to quest positions by which our social press formed child abuse discourse and drew social practical methods in the dimension of critical discourse analysis of Fairclough and to provide basic materials for solving social problem.
